UNIC meets the President of Paraguay

On Tuesday, October 14, Fabrizio Nuti, President of UNIC – Italian Tanneries, attended a meeting in Rome at the IILA (Italo-Latin American International Organization) with the President of Paraguay, Santiago Peña.
During the summit, the discussion also focused on the EUDR (EU Deforestation Regulation).
“Paraguay is the second-largest South American supplier to the Italian tanning industry,” explained Nuti. “The anti-deforestation regulation — to which bovine leather should not even scientifically be subject — represents a serious risk.”
President Peña agreed, stating that the EUDR is “a regulation born with the best intentions and legitimate goals, yet one that fails to reflect reality and ultimately poses a trade barrier and a burden for operators.”
