EU Deforestation Regulation: Brussels Ready to Postpone the EUDR to 2027

The announcement came on the first day of Lineapelle (Fieramilano Rho, September 23–25), where a conference on the topic was scheduled for September 24. The European Commission is preparing to postpone the implementation of the EUDR to 2027, as revealed by European Commissioner for the Environment Jessika Roswall during a public event.

The EU Deforestation Regulation, which introduces due diligence obligations for the international trade of several commodities — including bovine leather at every stage of processing — was initially set to take effect in December 2024 for large companies and in 2025 for SMEs. It had already been postponed by one year.
