At Monitor for Circular Fashion to discuss biobased materials

UNIC – Concerie Italiane took part in the final event of the “Monitor for Circular Fashion 2025” in Milan on 26 February.
The project takes a multi-stakeholder approach to identifying circularity performance indicators (KPIs) in the fashion industry, disseminating good corporate practices in this regard and promoting technical, managerial and scientific skills for sustainable business models. It is promoted by the SDA Bocconi Sustainability Lab and involves brands and institutions such as the European Commission (DG GROW), MASE (Italian Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security) and MIMIT (Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy).
The event on 26 February was an opportunity for UNIC to illustrate the value of biobased materials, including leather. It did so through a concrete example: the Nova bag model created in collaboration with Ferragamo, RadiciGroup, Conceria Antiba and UNIC. Biobased materials represent a strategic response to the climate crisis and the bioeconomy objectives defined by the EU and UN. UNIC emphasised the importance of transparency and traceability: these are essential requirements for promoting increasingly conscious consumption.
